Flight 180 (first known as 180 or One Eighty) was an American Christian ska band, with punk and swing influences, from Orange County, California. Fronted by Kim Tennberg, singer and songwriter, they formed in 1998 and disbanded in 2001, releasing three albums with BEC Recordings: Crackerjack (1998), Lineup (1999) and Girls and Boys (2001).
Background
The band formed in Orange County, California, in 1998. They released their first major label studio album, Crackerjack, by BEC Recordings, on November 3, 1998. Line Up was released on September 14, 1999, and Girls and Boys was released on February 27, 2001, by BEC Recordings. They disbanded as a group in 2001. Members Kim Tennberg, Chris Tennberg, Jamin Boggs and Josh Brisby continued to tour and record music independently after their third and final album was released.

Flight 180 belonged to the late-1990s wave when ska, punk and swing were colliding across the Christian alternative scene. Coming from Orange County put them in one of the key centres of third-wave ska, but their identity was different from simply following the O.C. Supertones template. Kim Tennberg’s lead vocals and trumpet, a mixed male-female lineup and a full complement of brass gave the band a bright, energetic sound with its own personality.
Their three-album run on BEC Recordings also captures how quickly that scene moved. Crackerjack arrived in 1998, followed by Lineup in 1999 and Girls and Boys in 2001, the year the group disbanded. Members continued making and performing music independently afterwards, but Flight 180’s compact catalogue remains a snapshot of the period when Christian ska could pull together punk guitars, swing rhythms, horns and pop hooks. For Waken The Dead, they help fill in the wider family tree around the better-known ska bands of the era.
