WTD Context: From The 7 Method to Solid State

The Ascendicate’s story stretches back to the North Carolina Christian metal scene under their earlier name, The 7 Method. That incarnation built a catalogue through the early 2000s before the group eventually emerged as The Ascendicate and signed with Solid State Records. Their 2009 album To Die as Kings gave the band its clearest national platform and placed them firmly in the heavier end of the Tooth & Nail/Solid State family, where metalcore, hardcore and Christian metal regularly overlapped.

The band’s connections also ran into some of the scene’s better-known names. The Ascendicate shared stages with acts including Extol, Disciple, Project 86 and Pillar, while guitarist Ryan Helm later joined Demon Hunter before forming Damien Deadson. That link is a useful reminder that The Ascendicate were not an isolated one-album project, but part of a wider network of musicians and bands moving through the Christian heavy-music world in the 2000s. Their recorded history under both names gives them a deeper footprint than the brief Ascendicate discography alone might suggest.
